Day 4 – Revelation
As the flesh decreases through the discipline of fasting, our spirits become more receptive to the Holy Spirit. This makes it easier to hear the Holy Spirit’s promptings.
These promptings often-times feel like a gentle thought or even an instinctive desire which can lead to a “divine appointment.” For example, I see a license plate and suddenly think of a bible reference which gives me the encouragement or direction I needed for that moment.
Sometimes these promptings lead to new revelations. The Holy Spirit may prompt or gently lead to deeper instruction, teach us something new or warn of impending danger.
Once during a fast, I was driving. It was in the middle of the day and the sun was shining overhead, when I came upon a green light and stepped on my brakes. I even chastised myself wondering, “what am I doing? The light is green!” Just then a car sped through the intersection at a great rate of speed, just barely missing me.
My spirit heard the voice of warning and my body immediately obeyed, saving me from potential physical harm or even death, and at the very least, damage to my personal property.
John 10:27-28, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.
The word “hear” in Greek is ἀκούω, which means to hear, hearken, understand. As a result of fasting, we are better able to hearken to our Shepherd’s voice and understand what He’s communicating. Once we understand we are better able to obey, Amen? (Shema) What a beautiful thing.
Fasting makes our flesh weaker, but it makes our spiritual ears more in tune with our Shepherd and increases our spiritual hearing and insights.
These spiritual communications/inspirations can come from something mundane, like an email address or car license plate leading you to a bible reference. Or the Holy Spirit will lead you watch or read something and His revelation to you will just leap off the page.
Suggested Prayer for Increased Spiritual Hearing:
Holy Heavenly Father,
Thank you for the sacrifice that our Messiah/Savior, Yeshua/Jesus, made for us. Thank you for His ministry and for the words He spoke that were written to encourage and enlighten us.
Please honor our fast and give us ears to hear and tune our physical bodies the wisdom to respond appropriately, even before our minds can perceive and understand.
Also, as we seek ears to hear Your voice, we also ask that the leaders over our country, states, cities, communities, and churches would also develop ears to hear Your voice. That You would also draw their spirits into agreement with Your will and Your agenda. That they would be agents for change back to your ways.
Help us to receive all the inspiration and revelation you desire to give us during this time. Reveal yourself to us and draw us closer to you, until we have a relationship with you as Moses did with you. Oh, that we may too be called true Friends of YHVH.
In Yeshua’s Precious Name! Amen
May your spiritual eyes and ears be open and that you be able to see and hear better than ever before. May our Heavenly Father richly bless you today, with insight, discernment, revelation, grace, and strength.
